A Letter From the Village

Here is a letter from the Village of Lemont regarding car a burglary in our area.  Please be vigilant in locking any vehicles that you leave in your driveway or on the street. Thank you.

Dear HOA/Neighborhood Watch:

In an effort to increase public awareness and safety, we need to notify you of a car burglary that took place on March 26, 2020.  It has also been sent out to the community via the Civic Send off of our Village website.

CAR BURGLARY โ€“ 03/26/2020

Last night, the Lemont Police viewed a car burglar getting inside an occupied vehicle which was previously reported stolen out of another town.  LPD officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the offenders fled the scene disregarding traffic laws in their attempt to escape.

Subsequent to this event and after daybreak, the department has taken multiple Burglary to Motor Vehicle reports for unlocked vehicles in the Chestnut Crossing and surrounding neighborhoods.  In addition to those reports, a motor vehicle was temporarily stolen from the Chestnut Crossing neighborhood that was left unlocked with the keys inside the vehicle.  The offenders were unable to go back to the vehicle they were stealing, due to being chased away by officers.  That vehicle was recovered with nothing removed.

Please be vigilant in locking your vehicles and garage doors for the night.  Please never leave your keys in the car after exiting.  Your partnership in locking your doors will help in providing a safer community for all of the citizens of Lemont.  If you see something suspicious, please do not hesitate, call 911.
